Daniel Radcliffe may have hung up his wand years ago, but he still has a magical connection to the Wizarding World. The celebrated actor recently revealed that he’s been getting updates on HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series from the franchise’s new and exciting Albus Dumbledore actor, John Lithgow. Fresh off his Tony Awards nomination for “Every Brilliant Thing,” Radcliffe crossed paths with Lithgow, who was also up for Best Actor in a Play for “Giant.”

Speaking to People about HBO’s new “Harry Potter” series, Daniel Radcliffe shared that he recently attended John Lithgow’s show. He said he was blown away by the veteran’s stellar performance. Radcliffe added with a laugh, “I went to see his show the other day, and he’s incredible in it. And I hope I get to cheer him when he wins tonight.” Funnily enough, his prediction actually proved to be accurate, with Lithgow taking home his third Tony Award for portraying Roald Dahl in “Giant.”
After the ceremony, Radcliffe got the chance to congratulate the 80-year-old actor backstage, where the pair briefly touched upon their respective “Harry Potter” journeys. While they avoided discussing specific details, Lithgow gave the original Boy Who Lived some reassuring news about the highly anticipated HBO adaptation, which was quite a wholesome surprise. Radcliffe explained, “We didn’t really talk about details, particularly. But, he was telling me about how well it’s going and how fond he is of the kids.”
Touched by the experience, the “Swiss Army Man” actor shared his warm wishes for the next generation of “Harry Potter” stars. He exclaimed, “It’s very, very sweet. And it’s nice to know it’s, you know, all going well.” While Radcliffe has previously stated that he has no plans to appear in the reboot, his latest comments suggest he’s still cheering on the franchise from afar, with one of its newest members serving as his inside source.
