A New Kidnapping Alert Has Emerged Near Nancy Guthrie’s Neighborhood

The abduction case of Nancy Guthrie has a new update. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has issued an alert for a kidnapping suspect, just seven miles from the Catalina Foothills home of the missing 84-year-old in Arizona.

According to the New York Post, the police department put out a notice for a 40-year-old criminal named Coral Michelle Smith. The officials asked the public to watch for the woman but did not share more details about the incident.

The public notice described Smith as 5’6″ tall and weighing 135 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes, and a smiley face tattoo on her ankle. She also has tattoos, including a coral heart, a white curl, the Frankenstein bride, the words “life love family,” and rose flames.

Smith has previously faced charges of kidnapping, assault, robbery, and disorderly conduct, and has served four separate prison sentences. She was convicted of robbery in 2011, disorderly conduct and attempted vehicle theft in 2014, robbery again in 2019, and criminal trespass in 2021, as per the New York Post. The 2019 case included kidnapping and drug charges involving a victim under 15, according to court records. The charges were later dismissed. 88-Crime is also offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to her arrest.

Nancy, mother of television journalist Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on the night of January 31 after arriving home from dining with family in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona. Surveillance footage from her home showed a masked individual, and authorities discovered her blood at the location. According to the BBC, the family has offered a $1 million reward for information, alongside a $100,000 reward from the FBI.
