Nick Reiner Claims He’s Being Denied Access to Parents’ Inheritance

Nick Reiner, who is accused of murdering his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, at their Los Angeles home in December 2025, is now seeking access to a trust fund of more than $1.5 million set up by his parents for his benefit. The 32-year-old filed a 136-page petition in a Los Angeles County court on June 8.

Nick Reiner has filed papers in an effort to gain access to his trust fund left by murdered parents Rob and Michele

According to court documents obtained by People, Nick’s parents previously set up a smaller, separate trust for his benefit, called Nick’s Trust, as they did for his siblings Jake and Romy. Nick is the middle child of legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner. As per the outlet, along with their three biological children, Rob adopted Tracy, his first wife Penny Marshall’s daughter.

The petition states that half of the trust was to be given to Nick when he turned 30, and the rest when he turned 35. Nick’s attorneys referred to the terms as “unambiguous instructions” in the filing, reports Newsweek.

The petition states that Nick has asked that the remainder of his Trust “be released to him for (1) his legal expenses; and (2) funding his commissary account so that he can buy basic support items while incarcerated (e.g., socks and personal hygiene items like soap) within the low spending limits imposed by the jail.”

It further mentions, “Given the present circumstances, it is an abuse of the Trustee’s discretion to refuse those requests. Nick is currently awaiting trial on double homicide charges. No use of his funds could be more important.” Adding, “Nick loved his parents, and he is devastated by their deaths. But the facts about what did and did not happen to them are not at issue in this Trust litigation.”

As per CNN, Nick, who started to abuse drugs as early as age 15, was arrested a few hours after his sister discovered their parents dead on December 14, 2025. He faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents. His next court date is a pretrial hearing set for September 15.
