Pope Leo XIV recently quipped that Bad Bunny could draw more fans in Spain. The Puerto Rican superstar and the Pontiff reportedly had a private meeting in Madrid over the weekend. A spokesperson for the Vatican said that Pope Leo XIV also met the singer’s “family and other people.” The singer is currently on the road for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour.
What Pope Leo XIV said about Bad Bunny before their meeting
Pope Leo XIV recently joked that Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny might be a bigger attraction in Spain. The Pontiff met the Grammy winner in a private meeting. However, there have been no photos or videos from the meeting have been released yet. In a conversation with CNN, the Pontiff hilariously confessed that he would understand if the people in Madrid preferred to attend Benito’s concert over his religious gathering.
The Pope told the outlet, “If they are confronted with the question: do they want to see Bad Bunny or do they want to see the pope, I think many will go to see Bad Bunny. But I think there will also be a few there to see the pope. And that too says something, you know.”
As per the Vatican, the 32-year-old singer was keen on meeting the Pope and that he was “truly moved” after they shook hands. For those unversed, Bad Bunny’s special concert in Madrid on June 7 was part of his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour. Not only that, Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia of Spain were in attendance to witness the Latin star in action.
Bad Bunny released his sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, in January this year. Notably, he became the first artist to win Album of the Year at the Grammys. This was the first time a Spanish-language album was conferred the honor.
Fans had interesting reactions to this news on X (formerly Twitter). One fan commented, “That’s such a random, hilarious crossover. Pope Leo just leveled up big time.” A second fan joked, “name change to Good Bunny.” A third fan quipped, “pope leo xiv about to feature on a bad bunny remix.” Finally, one fan chimed in, “I know their collab is gonna be fire.”
