Fans blast Tracy Morgan for his comment on teachers during his Variety Actors on Actors appearance. Morgan sat down for a conversation with Marcello Hernández. The internet, however, was not pleased with Morgan’s comments and slammed him for mocking teachers.

Tracy Morgan draws backlash for his teacher remark

Tracy Morgan earns the internet’s wrath for his casual comments about teachers. The Saturday Night Live alum was paired with Marcello Hernández for CNN and Variety’s Actors on Actors. In a clip posted by Variety on X, Hernández revealed he got scolded by teachers for making mischief in school. To which, Morgan replied, saying that he cannot stand teachers as they have a ceiling, a limit.

Hernández began, “They told me I did mischief in school. Mischief. I talk too much. I was excessive talking.” The 30-Rock star interjected and replied, “You know who gave that voice? No, they didn’t understand you. You had a sense of humor. And they couldn’t control that. God gave that to you.”

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old comedian replied smugly, “And now look at it. I’m getting paid for mischief.” Furthermore, Morgan continued, “And they are still making a minimum wage,” which prompted the comedian to burst out laughing.

Unfazed, Morgan asked rhetorically, “You know how much them teachers are probably making right now?” To which Hernández replied, “Man, not enough.” The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins star remarked, “I can’t stand teachers, you know why? Because they have a ceiling, a limit. That’s all they ever gonna be. I teach my kids: sky is the limit.”

The internet, however, wasn’t happy with Morgan and Hernández’s conversation, particularly the former’s casual comments about teachers. Also, one fan commented, “The emphasis on someone’s worth solely based on their salary is how we got to this timeline. The teachers who dedicate their careers to sharing their knowledge are vital to our society and deserve more respect than what they are currently receiving.” In fact, a second fan wrote, “Any teacher that has ever lived has had an infinitely more profound impact on society than Tracy Morgan.”
