Ben Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Lopez talks about the impact their divorce had on her life
Jennifer Lopez got real about life after Ben Affleck, describing how the end of their marriage became the starting point for rewriting her life story. Talking about the last two years of recovery after splitting from Affleck, Lopez shared how she has evolved. She described the previous five years as “a tumult.” However, the “On The Floor” hitmaker said that the last two have been “a healing process from that tumult.”
“I really got to know myself, and the person I am today is so different than the person I was even two years ago,” Lopez opened up to Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett on their “SmartLess” podcast. She explained that the healing process let her value the life she’d built on her own terms.
Bateman then asked if she recognized the achievement, considering her position. “There’s been different times where I felt like — whether people outside knew it or not — my life blew up in my own face,” Lopez answered. “It was because of the choices I made but also because of the fact that I had things that needed to change about myself that I didn’t understand or recognize that was attracting certain things and attracting a certain type of experience into my life.”
Affleck’s ex-wife added, “After my last divorce, I just sat there, and I was like, I canceled my tour, I sat there and I was just like, ‘You need to f‑‑‑ing figure yourself out. What is going on with you? Forget about everybody else. There’s nobody to blame here except yourself in a certain way.'”
The “Anaconda” actress wrapped up by saying that she started focusing inward, and that became her turning point.
