The Associated Press reports that Barry Moore, a Trump-endorsed candidate, triumphed in the Alabama elections over rival Hudson. Earlier, both candidates were at the top two in the election primary and together were moved to face off in a runoff. Following this win, Moore will be pitted against attorney Everett Wess to succeed Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville in the general election.
Before the runoffs, the president shared a few kind words about Moore and why he’s a fitting choice to lead Alabama. Reflecting on how he has been on his side since the start, he added, “You all know that he has right from the beginning and he’s a true America-first patriot who’s been with me from the very beginning. And as I said, that’s something that meant a lot to me. In fact, Barry was one of the first elected officials in the whole country.”
He highly praised his caliber, stating that he was a successful businessman and state legislator before joining Congress. “He was a, uh, man of great distinction for his record of conservative accomplishments in the State House, the Center for Legislative Excellence named Barry is Alabama’s most effective legislator,” he continued.
The president sounded confident that Moore would put his skills to good use while representing the people of Alabama. He also stated that Moore had played a significant role in “advancing their agenda” and helping them “secure their southern border.”
“But tomorrow, you’ll have a very important primary election in your state and I’m asking you to get out and vote for Congressman Barry Moore, an incredible guy and the Republican primary to be your next US Senator,” he said, urging citizens to vote in Moore’s favor during the tele-rally.
