Donald Trump’s chair incident at the G7 summit became a hot topic on social media. On Wednesday, the U.S. president joined several world and industry leaders in Evian-les-Bains, France. During the oval-table gathering, the 80-year-old seemed to be unhappy with his chair’s level. It appeared to be too low, which led Trump to fidget about the height. Unfortunately, he was unable to figure out how to raise his chair.
Donald Trump’s brief moment involving his chair during the G7 summit went viral
Donald Trump’s moment with his chair at the G7 summit has gone viral online. The U.S. president was seated at a large oval table with several world and industry leaders. Many high-profile names from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K, and other countries attended the summit. As some of them were busy discussing important events, Trump was dealing with a chair crisis.
According to the video shared on X, Trump’s chair seemed too low, and he struggled to raise it. He discussed his situation with OpenAI boss Sam Altman and DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis while seated between them. With the microphone on, his conversation was audible in the clip.
“Did you get it up?” Trump asked Altman after playfully slapping the latter’s side of the table. Furthermore, he could be heard saying, “Look at yourself in a picture, and you say, ‘What happened? What happened?’ I had the lowest chair in the whole room.” This made his neighbors laugh and agree with him.
Seeing his ordeal, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stepped in to help the president. He called out Trump’s name and informed him that he has “the general’s chair.” Moreover, Carney mockingly said, “You know what, it’s the U.N.” To this, Trump replied, “That’s funny. That’s very funny!”
While Trump found the solution, the video showed French President Emmanuel Macron being unbothered by the commotion. On the other hand, the U.S. president didn’t shy away from exchanging his chair with Carney. As he sat, Trump exclaimed, “Oh, that’s much better!”
