Former Disney CEO Bob Iger explains Jimmy Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk led to his suspension
Recently, in an interview with the Financial Times, the former Disney CEO revealed the reason behind Jimmy Kimmel Live! host’s suspension. He dismissed the speculations and said the suspension was based on his comments on Charlie Kirk. Disney executives believed his comments were out of line, he said: “We thought it was in bad taste.”
The controversy was created when he mentioned Kirk during his monologue on the show. “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” the TV host said.
His comments drew backlash, and Disney decided to preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which was pulled the week before the show was about to air on ABC.
According to reports, Disney held a conversation with the host before making a decision. Though he ultimately came back on the show. This led to speculation that the suspension was to please the Trump administration after the president posted on Truth Social.
Donald Trump mentioned why a network would want someone back who is unfunny and put 99% democrat garbage. However, the former CEO, Iger, dismissed all the speculations that were being made after his suspension.
While the suspension sparked online debate, Iger maintains that the decision from Disney was based solely on his remarks.
