Prince Harry is apparently set to return to the United Kingdom next month with Meghan Markle and their children. The visit could lead to several long-awaited family reunions. However, experts believe one senior royal may choose not to take part. According to reports, Queen Camilla is reportedly expected to keep her distance during the Sussexes’ stay in Britain.
Experts believe Queen Camilla is likely to keep her distance
Prince Harry’s anticipated trip to the U.K. could be one of his most significant visits in years. This time, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet are also expected to join him, per multiple reports. If the visit goes ahead, it would mark the children’s first trip to Britain since 2022.
The visit is believed to be tied to the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. While the event may bring Harry back to the U.K., it may not bring him face-to-face with every senior royal.
According to a report from Express via The Times, Queen Camilla is expected to “stay well clear” of Prince Harry during the Sussexes’ visit. She is reportedly “unlikely to get involved” in any conversations with the couple. The claim suggested that if Harry and Meghan do spend time with members of the royal family, Camilla may choose not to be part of those meetings.
That alleged stance would not come as a complete surprise given Harry’s previous comments about Camilla in his memoir, “Spare.” In the 2023 book, the duke wrote critically about his stepmother and described a relationship that appeared far from easy. Those passages were widely seen as damaging to an already fragile family dynamic.
While the queen may remain on the sidelines, other family reunions could still be possible. Reports have suggested Harry could spend time with King Charles, whom he has not seen since September last year.
There has also been speculation that he may reconnect with his cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, both of whom are believed to have maintained warm relations with him.
A reunion with Prince William, however, appears far less likely. The brothers are still said to be estranged, and recent reports have offered little sign of a thaw. As for Camilla, The Times suggested she may choose to spend time at her private Ray Mill residence in Wiltshire while Harry and Meghan are in Britain.
