Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s renewed ties with the royal family may appear cordial in public. However, an insider now claims Queen Camilla’s private feelings tell a very different story. According to the source, Camilla has chosen to keep her true opinions hidden while supporting King Charles III’s approach. The insider claimed the Queen understands that openly criticizing Harry and Meghan would not benefit her position.
Insider claims Queen Camilla’s public and private views differ
“Camilla is a very shrewd woman,” the source told National Examiner. They added, “Everything she does is to serve her own interests and it’s become clear that being loudly anti-Sussex is not going to go over well with the king.”
The insider claimed Camilla remains polite whenever Harry and Meghan are around. However, the source insisted that her friendly attitude should not be mistaken for genuine enthusiasm over their return.
“She’s very wisely smiling to their faces, but by no means is she truly welcoming their return,” the insider alleged.
The source also claimed Camilla sees the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a smaller concern than another challenge inside the monarchy.
According to the insider, Prince William’s eventual accession to the throne could reduce Camilla’s influence within the royal family. For that reason, the source suggested she benefits from King Charles remaining monarch for as long as possible.
“In many ways, they are the lesser of two evils for her because she knows Prince William is chomping at the bit to take over from his father,” the source claimed.
The insider added that William has allegedly made it clear Camilla’s influence and status would shrink once he becomes king.
The source further claimed Charles believes William still needs to demonstrate stronger leadership, particularly when it comes to repairing relations with Harry.
“As far as Camilla is concerned, if the Sussex drama helps keep Charles on the throne for longer, then it has its advantages, even if she still has no real desire to embrace Harry and Meghan,” the insider said.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have commented on the claims.
