A recent report has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s U.K. visit next month may not happen. This is because the couple was not granted taxpayer-funded security. However, a source said that for Harry, the safety and security of his family come first, though he is trying to make arrangements to ensure the visit materializes.
Prince Harry was denied taxpayer funded security, sources claim
An insider told The Guardian that Prince Harry’s visit with Meghan Markle and their kids, Archie and Lilibet, to England next month may not be possible. “Their plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour,” they said.
The source further revealed that Harry is trying his best to bring the family to England with proper security, so that they always remain protected when on the ground. The individual revealed that if he is able to make the security arrangement work, then the visit may happen.
Moreover, the source claimed that Harry is upset over not being provided with tax-funded security. This is because he doesn’t want his children to be followed everywhere by the media and paparazzi from the moment they set foot in the country, reiterating that he doesn’t want to put the kids through such a situation.
Ahead of this, a source told Page Six that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to bring their own private security and were expecting a “huge spectacle.” While they aimed for 24/7 armed security, they were only granted private security at the offered royal residence.
In May, a source told Page Six about the financial condition of Markle and Harry while sharing details on how much they pay for private security. They stated that the “money is tight” and that Markle is the only “breadwinner” in the family. They also touched upon how the couple had to pay for the private security of themselves and their kids after parting ways with the royal family in 2020. Their security costs reportedly come to around $3 million.
