Michelle Obama names Elf as her favorite movie

Michelle Obama took to Instagram to disclose the next guest on the IMO podcast while also revealing her favorite movie. She said that Elf is her favorite movie of all time and that she is excited to have a conversation with Ferrell, who played Buddy the Elf in it. In the conversation, the former First Lady revealed that she has rewatched the movie over and over again, as it’s her favorite.

The conversation shifted to Ferrell, who mentioned that he was aware that at some point he would be required to leave Saturday Night Live, as he has been a part of it for a long time. “And it just felt like I’d had enough momentum, but it’s not like I had a stack of scripts waiting for me,” Ferrell added.

The veteran actor revealed that Elf was one of the reasons behind his departure, as its concept was something he liked but realized it needed to be worked on. “And so we kind of rewrote the whole thing. But it’s such an interesting thing to have become what it’s become… I had no idea that we had like lightning in a bottle, but we did,” he continued.

Reiterating her love for movies, she added, “It is my favorite movie of all time. I mean, it really is. I don’t re-watch movies, but it is hilarious every other second. And it is so sweet. And it definitely does all the things. It presses all the buttons.” She added that whenever she wants to feel good, she re-watches it and also invites other people to watch it so she can excitedly hint at what comes next.
