According to a recent report by the Associated Press, Donald Trump Jr. attended the preliminary hearing of Tyler Robinson in a Utah courtroom on Monday, July 6. Robinson is suspected of killing right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk. He is facing charges of multiple felonies, including aggravated murder.
The Monday court appearance marks the beginning of a weeklong preliminary hearing, where prosecutors will present evidence against Robinson. Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erica Kirk, as well as his parents and Robinson’s parents, were all present at the hearing.
The Kirk family had shared an official statement, via Erica Kirk‘s X account, ahead of their appearance. “Statement on behalf of Charlie Kirk’s immediate family, his parents Robert and Kathryn, his wife, Erika, and his sister, Mary: Charlie was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and father,” they penned.
“Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,” the statement continued.
The Kirk family concluded, “We remain deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness we have received. This outpouring has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask for continued privacy as we navigate this process and immense grief.”
Charlie was fatally shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Following his assassination, TPUSA’s board unanimously elected his widow, Erica, as the organization’s new CEO.
