Donald Trump’s NATO Trip Began With an Embarrassing Old Video

The US President Donald Trump kicked off his journey to a NATO summit in Turkey by sharing a stale video on Truth Social. The post injected an awkward note into what was meant to be a show of diplomatic momentum.

Donald Trump shared the outdated event promotion before boarding Air Force One for Turkey

Roughly twenty minutes before Air Force One lifted off on Monday night, Donald Trump published a glossy video to Truth Social advertising Freedom 250. The post urged viewers to “Register to Attend” and directed them to a link for “Wednesday, June 24, 2026” — a date more than a week in the past.

That June evening was the launch of the Great American State Fair on the National Mall. The recycled video shows military flyovers and a set by the U.S. Marine Band, both staples of the opening ceremony. With the fair set to close on Friday, the call to register serves no practical purpose, though tickets remain on sale.

Moments after circulating the outdated appeal, the president posted a separate message celebrating American military firepower. He insisted “no other nation can do what we do” and claimed the armed forces “has never been more powerful.” Trump also pressed Congress to advance Reconciliation 3.0 and the SAVE America Act.

Additionally, he posted highlights from a recent visit to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota. There, he had an interaction with an artificially generated version of the former president, asking him policy questions and more.

Now, his schedule in Turkey features two days of NATO meetings alongside sit-downs with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Officials reportedly expect POTUS to inform Erdoğan that the United States will lift its 2019 ban on F-35 fighter jet sales, reversing a national security decision Trump himself once championed.

The 80-year-old was seen leaving the White House on Monday evening before boarding the new Air Force One, a luxury jet gifted by the government of Qatar.
