Here’s Why Donald Trump’s Blue Reflecting Pool Is Being Drained Again

Donald Trump has announced that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will undergo repair work. The president declared that the pool “will be refilled” in a recent Truth Social post. Trump also doubled down on his previous claims that vandals were responsible for the paint peels and other issues at the site.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is being drained again after algae and peeling problems

Donald Trump’s controversial Reflecting Pool renovations continue to make headlines as he announces that the pool was drained and will be refilled again. The president also reiterated that vandals caused the paint peels and the algae infestation at the site, along with new claims.

“We drained the beautiful ‘Reflecting Pool’ today in order to fix the scars and damage that was done by the Vandals two weeks ago,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Monday. “We wanted to wait until after the July 4th Weekend. The slashes were 300 yards long, and the floor of the pool was cut and then pulled upward, with great force, by these thugs,” he added.

Trump continued, “The Parks Department had to empty the water in order to fix the water tight basin. It will be refilled and put back into service soon.” The president then issued another warning to the vandals, saying, “These Country hating sleazebags should pay a big price for the damage done.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has ordered the pool to be drained. Last month, the president accused vandals of causing the “American flag blue” paint to chip at the bottom. “It’s not a lot of damage, but we’ll probably have to let the water out and refix it,” Trump told reporters at the time (via The Associated Press).

Trump reiterated the claims in another Truth Social post on Monday night. He insisted that the lining “was slashed with a knife, or a box cutter” by vandals. He went on to declare, “It will be fixed soon, and better than ever. 60 monuments and fountains have been cleaned and fully renovated in D.C., and crime is at record lows!”
