Kate Middleton’s Wimbledon Appearance Reportedly Included a Rule Break

Kate Middleton reportedly broke a crucial rule during her appearance at the Wimbledon Men’s final. The Princess of Wales donned a large sun hat while sitting in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on July 12. This was technically against the dress protocol already decided for attendees. However, Wimbledon relaxed the dress code due to the ongoing heatwave.

Kate Middleton reportedly broke a rule while attending the Wimbledon Men’s final

Kate Middleton attended the Wimbledon men’s final game and wore a large sunhat, breaking the official dress code. Middleton was seated in the Royal Box on July 12 for the Men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.

As per the tournament’s website, attendees who sit in the invite-only Royal Box must dress “smart.” This includes wearing a suit or a jacket paired with a tie. Also, women are advised not to wear hats as they tend to block the view of those sitting behind.

The Princess of Wales was seated in the front row alongside her husband, Prince William, and the couple’s two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. She briefly wore a brown sunhat because of the excruciating heatwave. It was reportedly necessary because sunlight was falling directly on the Royal Box. Attendees were carrying portable fans, paper fans, and sipping water continuously.

Not only that, but the coveted tennis tournament also provided fedoras with purple and green hat bands, the club’s official green and purple colors. Interestingly, her two older children, George and Charlotte, wore hats provided by Wimbledon and also used paper fans to shield themselves from the heat (via PEOPLE).

Middleton ditched her hat when she was invited to present trophies to the winners and the runner-up. Notably, Middleton’s youngest son, Prince Louis, did not join his family in the Royal Box on Sunday. However, as per the Princess of Wales, the young prince has different plans for the future.

The Telegraph interviewed 18-year-old court services team member Jenna Fontanilla after she spoke to Middleton a day prior to the final. As per Fontanilla, Middleton revealed that her youngest child dreams of being a ball boy.

Fontanilla shared, “She told me about how Louis was asking her about how to become a ball boy. We were talking about how much hard work it is to be on court and how we work alongside the ball kids. It’s just so lovely.”
