Healy and Bechtel announced their engagement in June 2024. They have mostly kept their relationship away from media attention afterwards. However, several fans closely followed the couple’s major milestones online. Their wedding continued that low-key approach.
The relationship began shortly after Healy’s brief romance with Taylor Swift. The pair first sparked dating rumours in 2023. Swift‘s fans later speculated about songs from The Tortured Poets Department. Neither Swift nor Healy has confirmed these fan theories.
Bechtel shared about her engagement through an Instagram story in 2024. She showcased her black diamond engagement ring in the announcement. Her caption read, “Marrying The 1975 is very brat.” Healy’s mother, Denise Welch, later confirmed the engagement publicly.
Guests reportedly included Charli XCX and her husband, George Daniel. Daniel is a member of The 1975 alongside Healy. Social media videos offered brief glimpses of the wedding celebrations. However, the newlyweds did not release any official wedding photographs yet.
