The legal issues surrounding Tulsi Gabbard’s family have intensified after Kimberley Gabbard, the wife of her brother Batarti Gabbard, also known as Bhakti, filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against him. Kimberley said she sought the restraining order because of what she described as Batarti’s recent “erratic, impulsive and bizarre” behavior.

Batarti Gabbard’s wife, Kimberley filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against her husband, who is also known as Bhakti Gabbard, on Friday, July 17. The filing came the same day he was charged with second-degree custodial interference. It was in connection with an alleged “stranger danger” incident in Hawaii.
TMZ reported that the court denied the temporary restraining order, which would have required Bhakti to stay 100 feet away from Kimberley except during court proceedings. The court scheduled the next hearing for later this month.
According to the petition obtained by TMZ, Kimberley said she feared for her safety after her husband of nearly a decade displayed increasingly erratic behavior in the days leading up to his arrest. She also described him as “gravely disabled” amid what she characterized in the filing as a “psychotic break.”
In the filing, Kimberley described an incident on July 11, one day before the Hawaii hotel incident. She alleged that her husband sang loudly and disrupted others at Ala Moana Center, prompting mall security to intervene. However, the petition was ultimately denied by the court on Friday.
Kimberley also wrote in her petition that she feared for her safety the day before the Waikīkī hotel incident. She claimed to have “photos and video to prove this erratic, impulsive, and bizarre behavior.” Kimberley also stated that her husband has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and narcissism.
Kimberley further stated that she and other family members had repeatedly urged him to seek psychiatric treatment. She described the reason as a “significant deterioration in his mental state and judgment.”
The temporary restraining order filing adds another legal development involving the family of former U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
According to an earlier statement from Batarti’s parents, hewas under psychological evaluation after the alleged Hawaii incident. They also said he is receiving further psychiatric care.
