Prince Harry’s Body Language Raised New Concerns After UK Trip — Expert

Prince Harry‘s latest speech in London has prompted fresh analysis from a body language expert. According to the expert, the Duke of Sussex displayed several subtle behaviors that hinted at an emotional struggle beneath his composed exterior. The analysis came after Harry’s recent trip to the U.K., which was overshadowed by legal disappointments and continued royal tensions. As a result, his appearance has generated a new wave of discussion online.

Body language expert says Prince Harry looked ‘wounded’ after UK trip

Prince Harry appeared at an Invictus Games event at Chatham House in London on July 7. The engagement came shortly after reports emerged that he had lost his lawsuit against the Daily Mail publishers. Although the duke delivered a “passionate” speech, body language expert Judi James believes his gestures told a more personal story.

Speaking to Sky Vegas, as reported by the Daily Express, James claimed Harry looked as though he was still processing recent setbacks (via Sky News Australia). She called him a committed supporter of the Invictus Games. However, she suggested there were “nearly ten cues or clues” that reflected how he was feeling beneath his encouraging words.

According to James, the first signs appeared before Harry even addressed the audience. She claimed he touched the knot of his tie before adjusting it again. He then appeared to straighten his jacket while standing behind the lectern. James described these as self-soothing behaviors, suggesting he exhibited “a desire to self-soothe and self-calm.”

As the speech continued, she said more gestures caught her attention. Harry reportedly scratched around his waist before briefly shrugging his shoulders and puffing out his chest. James interpreted the sequence as what looked like a “confidence reboot.” She also claimed his hand returned to the side of his belt during the address, which she viewed as another attempt to regain composure.

His exit also stood out to the expert. In James’ view, Harry did not leave the stage with the relaxed confidence he has often displayed at Invictus events. Rather, she claimed he quietly collected his notes before walking away without smiling. “His lips continued to work away,” James said. She added that he left “in a low-key, unsmiling way” instead of the cheerful and “personable sign-off” she has come to associate with him.

One final gesture also drew her attention. As Harry stepped off the stage, he placed a hand across his chest. James suggested the movement could have reflected his loyalty to the Invictus community. Alternatively, she said, it may have signaled that he was feeling “wounded” by events outside the gathering.
