Tucker Carlson ignited another heated debate after sharing his views on feminism and working women during a recent podcast interview. The comments quickly landed on The View, where the co-hosts challenged nearly every point and defended the progress women have made over the last several decades.
The panel didn’t hold back. Each host tackled a different part of Carlson’s argument.
The View co-hosts criticized Tucker Carlson’s comments about feminism
The July 22 episode opened with footage from Carlson’s interview on The Mishal Husain Show, where he sidestepped a question about his daughters before making broader claims about women.
He said, “Women in general want the man to make the decision,” before adding, “Feminism is an operation run by big business to lower the price of labor and to free up a massive and incredibly productive female workforce, and that’s been bad for the country.” He also claimed women enjoyed happier lives in 1972.
Joy Behar immediately challenged that timeline. According to RadarOnline, she joked Carlson entered the world in 1969 and could not possibly know how women felt three years later. Whoopi Goldberg piled on with a few jokes before dismissing his argument altogether.
Sara Haines followed with a fact-based response. “Women were not happier in 1972,” she said. Haines pointed to Title IX, financial independence, access to credit cards without a husband’s approval, family and medical leave protections, stronger laws addressing domestic violence and sexual assault, and expanded educational opportunities.
She finished with a direct message: “I would like to inform Tucker Carlson that he has no room to speak about what ‘women in general’ are doing because he clearly has not heard of that.”
Sunny Hostin then shifted the conversation toward Carlson’s personal history. Citing information from co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, Hostin noted that Carlson has spoken publicly about his mother’s departure during childhood. “So that’s apparent, and I think we’re seeing it,” she said.
Griffin criticized Carlson’s remarks about working mothers. “I’m not a trust fund kid like Tucker Carlson. I work because I need to pay for my lifestyle. Doesn’t mean I love my kid any less. It’s such a sick notion,” she said.
Goldberg wrapped up the discussion with a history lesson. She reminded viewers that women fought for education and careers because institutions denied them those opportunities for generations.
“The women who wanted to go to college… that’s why women got educated. Because they didn’t want to be told what to do by dumb gentlemen like yourself,” she said during the ABC broadcast.
