A newly surfaced audio recording captures the chaos and panic as one of Nolan Wells‘ friends tried to describe an emergency aboard their boat. A friend, who reportedly called Sea Tow, was panicked and completely confused as he talked to the dispatcher.
Newly released audio reveals Nolan Wells’ friend struggling to explain the sinking boat emergency
According to TMZ, the Nolan Wells death investigation has deepened with a newly emerged audio. The confusion started when Nolan and his friends’ boat started taking on water.
During his call to the Sea Tow dispatcher, the caller said that their boat was sinking because the bilge pump wasn’t working. He asked for help to “unsank” the boat and be towed back to shore. When the dispatcher wanted the membership details, they got no coherent answer. Following this, they eventually learned the GPS coordinates.
The confusion continued when the dispatcher asked how many people were on board. The caller replied, saying that there were no children and also no one over the age of 21. The dispatcher repeated the question, seeking the total number of people onboard.
The dispatcher called the Sea Tow captain and explained that the people onboard were panicking. The captain replied, saying that he had already called the operator’s grandfather, Jerry Adkerson, who said the situation had been handled. Contrary to belief, the people onboard did not, indeed, need assistance.
Nolan’s friends later said that he had chosen to stay back at the island after the boat was towed back. The group had been partying at Horn Island on July 4. They came back to the mainland without the 18-year-old. Two days later, Wells’s body was found washed up at the shoreline.
Mississippi officials have suggested that Nolan had drowned. However, his family and lawyer Ben Crump continue to question their conclusion. The family has also conducted an independent autopsy on Nolan. Many have alleged that the sheriff and his department have not been able to handle the case properly.
