Kacey Musgraves has removed three dates from her upcoming arena tour, including a Chicago concert that would have served as opening night. The country star has not explained the changes, leaving affected ticket holders with refunds but few answers.

People reported that Musgraves canceled performances scheduled for Aug. 20 at Chicago’s United Center, Aug. 29 at TD Garden in Boston and Sept. 2 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Her representative declined to comment when the outlet requested an explanation.
The Chicago cancellation changes the tour’s start date. Musgraves’ official tour schedule now lists an Aug. 21 performance at the United Center as the first arena show, followed by Toronto on Aug. 24 and Boston on Aug. 28.
The remaining Boston and New York concerts still appear on the schedule. Musgraves is set to perform at TD Garden on Aug. 28 and Madison Square Garden on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. People noted that each affected city had more than one scheduled concert. A fan also shared an email stating that refunds for the canceled Boston show would be issued automatically, according to People. Musgraves has not publicly addressed the cancellations.
Without an official explanation, it would be premature to connect the decision to health concerns, ticket sales, production issues or any other possible cause. Neither Musgraves nor her representative has confirmed a reason.
The Middle of Nowhere Tour supports Musgraves’ album of the same name, which arrived May 1. The North American run includes Nashville, Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles and other cities before its scheduled conclusion in Seattle on Oct. 27.
The unexplained changes follow several unrelated concert disruptions involving other artists. Harry Styles recently canceled a São Paulo show because of an unspecified health issue, while Lionel Richie postponed dates after an onstage health scare. Lil Wayne also faced criticism after missing a scheduled Maine concert.
For now, the broader tour remains intact. Musgraves has scrapped three individual dates, but she has not canceled the full Middle of Nowhere Tour or announced further changes.
