Mia Bieniemy, wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot at their Virginia home on July 26. Their son has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.

Authorities responded to a reported shooting on Northpark Drive at around 7:32 p.m., where they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, reports KRCG 13. The 57-year-old Mia is reported to be in stable condition.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said the son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he remains held without bond.
The Chiefs said in a statement, “The club is aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy’s family. Out of respect for their privacy, we won’t have a comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.” Eric returned to his wife after participating in the first two days of Chiefs training camp over the weekend.
As per court records, a July 27 morning arraignment hearing for Elijah in Loudoun County was continued. His next court appearance is set for a preliminary hearing on August 31 at 10 a.m. Online court records listed the public defender as Bieniemy’s attorney as of late Monday morning. Officials said there is no threat to the public at this time. The investigation remains active.
According to TMZ, Eric spent a decade with the Chiefs from 2013-2022, serving four seasons as offensive coordinator before stops with the Washington Commanders, UCLA and the Chicago Bears. He returned to Kansas City as offensive coordinator earlier this year.
