Meghan Markle secured a major win with TV ratings despite all the criticism during her recent MasterChef Australia appearance. The Duchess of Sussex appeared on the July 26 episode of the 18th season of the cooking show. The ratings for the episode have been record-breaking despite all the negativity surrounding the former actress’ cameo on the show.

Meghan Markle’s MasterChef episode clocked a staggering 1.6 million views, as per a report by Express.co.UK. This episode surpassed the record for the biggest overnight Sunday audience since July 2023. Not only that, it broke the record for the biggest-ever overnight streaming audience, at 118,000 viewers.
Moreover, it also dominated the seven-day Total Viewing audience with 1.22 million national viewers. The Duchess of Sussex’s episode witnessed a 16 percent increase in its national Total TV audience compared with the same episode last year.
Previously, Daily Mail reported that Markle was reportedly not comfortable being addressed as “Duchess of Sussex” on MasterChef Australia. The Suits star was reportedly “frustrated” when she was described as “royalty” in a promo for the show. Markle and her team had “specifically” requested not to use the word “royal” for her.
However, Judge Poh Ling Yeow introduced her enthusiastically: “We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but nothing like this. All the way from sunny California, please welcome to MasterChef Australia…the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle!” Yeow then asked Markle cautiously: “Do we call you Duchess?” To which, the actress replied: “Oh, call me Meghan” (via PEOPLE).
A source close to Markle clarified that she had a great time filming her episode and there were absolutely no issues. The source attached to Markle stated: “Meghan and the MasterChef judges had a great time on set together. They immediately had such a great rapport and had a really fun time working with the contestants and crew as well. Meghan left the set that day with such a positive experience. Any reporting otherwise is false.”
