His father may have ascended the British throne just four years ago, but Prince William seems to have already settled upon certain changes he would like to enforce once he comes into power. In the latest update on Prince William, a royal correspondent discussed the heir apparent’s supposed plans when he becomes King, with most of them revolving around the media presence around the royal family.
Prince William is reportedly planning to make many changes once he becomes king
During his recent interview with GB News about his upcoming book, The Four Wives of Windsor: The Inside Story of the Power Behind the Crown, royal correspondent and author Simon Vigar claimed that Prince William wants to implement several changes after he succeeds King Charles to safeguard the privacy of his children and their future partners.
“William dropped those big hints in the Apple TV documentary [The Reluctant Traveler], talking actually about the changes that he wants to make,” Vigar stated.
Notably, the Prince of Wales’ 2025 interview saw him admit to host Eugene Levy that “change is on my agenda” when he eventually succeeds King Charles. William further added in the discussion that he wishes to curb the “insatiable” scrutiny the royal family faces from the press.
“I put money on that being one of them,” Vigar said of Prince William’s plans as the future King.
Talking about the 44-year-old’s strategy for his children, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte, the author noted that Prince William would want to apply the same privacy agreements that enabled him and his wife, Kate Middleton, to experience their university years in peace. “In terms of when George, Charlotte, and Louis complete university, once they’re in their twenties, I think it’ll be a similar deal, and privacy law is changing all the time,” he said. He added, “There will be similar conversations.”
As for the people that the Royal kids might date in the future, Vigar noted, “I would have thought occasional public bust-ups as well about what can be printed about the people that we know are going out with the young royals…it’ll definitely develop.”
