Nolan Wells’s mother has fired off subpoenas to social media platforms, seeking all digital information about her son.
Wells was found dead and washed up on the shoreline after a July 4 party at Horn Island.
Nolan’s mother requests social media and account data as part of independent investigation
According to TMZ, Wonsley has submitted subpoenas to the companies behind her son’s social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Life360, Snapchat, and TikTok. As part of her independent investigation, Wonsley had used Life360 to track Nolan’s phone. She then compared the location history between Snapchat and the tracking app, but found that the data didn’t match.
To get deeper insights, Wonsley is asking the platforms to turn in any information on her son. This includes all current and prior usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, and display names. Additionally, she wants access to all IP addresses tied to actions on the account, including logins, password resets, and metadata.
The subpoenas have also requested all IP addresses tied to friend events on the account. This spans any party messaging in a conversation with the account, all posts, stories, chats, messages and DMs, and all photos, video recordings, content, text files, GPS data, friend-list history and other information stored.
Previously, Wells’s family and their attorney Ben Crump had alleged that Mississippi officials were not handling the case properly. They have questioned the police’s drowning conclusion and continue to pursue their own, independent investigation, including an autopsy.
Nolan Wells’s body was found on 6th July. Reportedly, the 18-year-old had gone to celebrate 4th July with his friends on Horn Island but did not come back to the mainland with them. Newly surfaced video and audio recordings have affirmed his whereabouts leading up to his death.
