Andy Cohen Accused Of Making Bold Move To Get Madonna’s Attention — Insider

Andy Cohen may have found the ultimate solution to getting Madonna on his couch after trying for years. Cohen’s decision to hire Madonna’s daughter, Mercy James, has sparked speculation that it could finally help him land one of his most elusive dream guests.

Sources claim Cohen hired Madonna’s daughter in hopes of bringing the pop icon closer

Mercy, 20, has reportedly been working behind the scenes on Watch What Happens Live for about a year. The connection first came to light when Rosie O’Donnell revealed the surprising hire during a July 22 interview with People. Insiders claim the pop legend’s daughter is hardworking, professional, and well-liked by the staff.

The hire quickly fueled speculation among industry insiders, some of whom questioned whether the move could eventually help Cohen persuade Madonna to appear on the show.

“Let’s not kid ourselves,” one Bravo insider told Naughty But Nice. “There are thousands of qualified young people who would kill for that job. Mercy’s mom got her noticed. That’s just how TV works.”

Another television insider speculated, “Andy has been chasing Madonna since the day Watch What Happens Live launched. He’s praised her endlessly, defended her publicly, and practically rolled out the red carpet for years,” they added. “Having her daughter in the clubhouse certainly doesn’t hurt his chances.”

The hire raised eyebrows specifically because of Madonna’s long, playful feud with the Bravo boss over her refusal to ever sit down for an interview on his show. The pop icon has famously never appeared on the show, even though it’s been long-running since 2009.

Cohen has openly remarked on the rejection. “Madonna still has not done the show. I’m actually kind of over it because in my Notes app, I was keeping a long list of interview questions for her in case she ever did the show, and she’s kind of answered a lot of it,” Cohen said as per US Magazine.

The Queen of Pop has also kept the playful rivalry alive publicly. During a stop on her 2023 Celebration Tour at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, she spotted Cohen in the crowd and called him out from the stage. “If you say one more bad thing about me on your show, you’re gonna get in so much trouble,” she said. “You little troublemaking queen!”

For now, Madonna remains one of the biggest names never to appear on Watch What Happens Live. Whether Mercy’s behind-the-scenes role changes, that remains to be seen.
