She wrote, “The accident of me getting arrested was probably the scariest and hardest experience of my life.” Spears also teased, “Maybe I can tell you what really happened one day in a VOLUME 2 book.” She added, “I’m an extremely strong woman, and what happened, let’s just say again, NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS!”
Police officers arrested Spears in Ventura County, California, on March 30 after she allegedly swerved from lane to lane and began to speed. Authorities also said she showed signs of impairment and found unidentified pills in her possession. Spears later pleaded guilty to a lesser “wet reckless” charge after prosecutors dropped the misdemeanor DUI count. The plea deal was about probation, therapy, and credit for one day already served in jail, according to NBC News.
Beyond describing the arrest as terrifying, Spears also reflected on how the experience changed her outlook. Since her arrest, she has felt “a huge spiritual shift,” she wrote, and believes that her ancestors and angels have remained with her. She also wrote, “MOM, I’M SO HAPPY TO BE ALIVE!!!” in a rare message to her mother, Lynne Spears. Days earlier, Spears told fans she planned to spend less time on Instagram, dance for herself, and focus on being kinder to herself while thinking about starting a soap and candle business.
Her lawyer told PEOPLE that Spears had accepted responsibility for her conduct and praised the progress she had made following the plea agreement. While Spears has not shared additional details, her deleted post has left fans wondering whether she will reveal the full story in a future book.
