Britney Spears is on her way back to court. The pop star is formally facing charge of misdemeanor DUI. This comes after she was pulled over in early March for allegedly driving erratically.
The Baby One More Time singer spent a few hours in prison following the incident. Reports suggest she had been crying during the process. Those close to Britney have reportedly been trying to get her help following this latest incident.
The formal charge comes after Britney went to rehab

The Princess of Pop will return to a familiar setting next week, the courtroom. TMZ broke the story of the formal charge against her on Thursday. They say that the Ventura County DA’s Office will offer a wet reckless in this matter. That would allow the person charged to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs. When one show self-motivation to address these issues by going to rehab for instance it applies to the offer.
This deal is for people with a DUI history, low blood alcohol level, and when there was no injury or crash. Britney ticks all those boxes. After being pulled over in March, she went to the hospital, where they performed a toxicology test, drawing blood from her. Her blood alcohol level was reportedly 0.06, below the California limit of 0.08.
Throughout her lifetime, Britney has been in her share of legal battles. In 2007, she faced some misdemeaor charges and a possible jail sentence for an alleged hit-and-run. The charges were dropped after she paid for the damages, while the jury was deadlocked in her trial for driving without a California licence. She also went through a highly publicized conservatorship trial, from which she was eventually freed.
For her part, Britney has been in rehab to try to end her problems once and for all. Her first court appearance on this charge will be on May 4.
