Keke Palmer is stepping into one of NBC’s biggest reality franchises, but a new report suggests her paycheck looks very different from Carson Daly’s. The reported salary difference has sparked conversation after Palmer was announced as the host of The Voice: Celebrity.
Palmer’s reported paycheck comes in $4 million below Daly’s salary after taking over the hosting role
According to The Sun, Palmer’s salary for hosting The Voice: Celebrity is around $2 million. The report states that her compensation is for hosting duties only and that she will not receive a producer credit. A source said, “Her fee is just for hosting. She will not have producer credit, which also plays into the lower number.”
By comparison, Daly reportedly earns about $6 million for hosting and producing the show. The source also noted that his salary has increased over his 15-year run with the series.
NBC announced on Tuesday that Palmer will host The Voice: Celebrity. The network described the show as an extension of the franchise. The celebrity edition will feature actors, musicians, influencers, athletes, comedians, and reality television personalities as contestants.
Daly is stepping away from hosting the celebrity edition because of the professional demands of co-anchoring the Today show. He has also expressed a desire to spend more time with his family. However, he will continue to serve as a producer. He has said that he is “not the right” host for the show while continuing to “produce and help it launch from behind the scenes.”
Daly also took to Instagram on Tuesday to reassure fans who thought he was leaving the franchise altogether. He wrote, “Many today have asked if I’m leaving the show. Nope,” he wrote. “We’re gonna try out these 2 formats this fall/spring & see how it goes! Hopefully this post clears up any confusion.”
Daly has hosted The Voice since its debut in 2011, making him the only host the original series has ever had.
