Meghan Markle celebrated her 45th birthday on August 4. The Duchess of Sussex shared fun pictures on her social media, jumping into the pool with birthday balloons. However, none from the royal family publicly acknowledged her big day. As per experts, the family ignored Markle since she is no longer a working royal.
Expert claims royal family snubbed Meghan Markle on birthday as per ‘protocol’
Experts told Page Six that the royal family didn’t publicly wish Meghan Markle on her birthday since she gave up her royal duties. “Birthday wishes to a private citizen would be sent privately,” Tom Sykes told the outlet. “There’s absolutely no way anything will be put on social media feeds or anything like that.” Kinsey Schofield also said that Markle’s in-laws haven’t wished her on Instagram ever since she stepped away from her royal duties.
“The Royal Family has consistently reserved official birthday wishes for working royals, and Harry, Meghan, and their children haven’t been included in that policy for several years,” Schofield noted. “Palace officials would tell you it’s protocol, not personal.” Talking about Markle’s 45th birthday, royal fans outside Buckingham Palace sent wishes to the Duchess of Sussex. Among them, Australian visitor Karen Letch hoped for the “Suits” alum’s return to the royals alongside her husband, Prince Harry.
“Happy birthday! Good luck to her,” Letch told the Daily Express. She also confessed to being a huge fan of Harry. Moreover, she and her husband, Harry Bowman, love the monarchy. “Harry’s the rebel of the family, and we like him, we like a rebel,” Letch said. She also wished that the Sussexes would reconnect with the monarchy and have their children, Archie and Lilibet, grow as part of the Royal Family. Letch added, “I don’t think they would accept him back, but it would be great to see the kids come back. For the kids – it’s their heritage.”
