Liam Payne‘s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has responded to online criticism after some social media users accused her of abandoning Nala, the rescue dog she adopted with the late One Direction singer. The backlash came after Kate shared a video of herself flying out of town.

In a TikTok video filmed at the airport, Kate revealed she was leaving for “some peace of mind.” She wrote over the clip, “I’ve been flying out of town for some peace of mind.”
Although the video was about her trip, it quickly drew questions about the pet dog, Nala.
One user commented, “Leaving Nala alone again??” Another wrote, “You can travel while owning pets btw!” A third added, “Always away, always having a sub owner for Nala, huh!” Another comment read, “She doesn’t care about Nala let alone that the fact it’s almost Liam’s birthday she doesn’t care never has and probably won’t.”
She replied directly to the comments to assure followers that Nala was being looked after. She clarified that Nala was staying with Anna while she was away. “Nala is literally staying with Anna everyone plzzzz,” she wrote.
Kate and her late boyfriend Liam Payne adopted Nala from Urgent Dogs of Miami in September 2024. Nala joined the couple just a month before the former singer’s tragic death. Since then, Kate has continued sharing moments with the dog on social media.
The 25-year-old influencer was in a relationship with the former One Direction star when he died at the age of 31 in October 2024. Liam passed away after falling from the balcony of the hotel where he was staying in Argentina.
