Britney Spears shared an emotional message that gave fans a rare look at her feelings about motherhood. The singer admitted she feels she failed as a mother after learning one of her sons no longer believes in God. Spears also commented on the hurtful experiences she had with her parents and her children. She shared the deeply personal message on X on Friday.

Spears started her post with an old picture of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, running on a beach. She said she discovered five years ago that her estranged father, Jamie Spears, and mother, Lynne Spears, had taken her sons to the beach without her. The discovery left her devastated and made her question herself as a parent. Spears wrote that she feels like she “failed as a mother” because one of her sons told her he does not believe in God.
Despite that heartbreak, Spears said she still believes in God and the Holy Spirit. “There’s a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven … I’ve been there I’ve felt it,” she wrote.
Spears also said her father kept her from having simple moments, like going to a diner with a new friend, because of media attention. She said those experiences demoralized her. She also said she cried for two months after hearing about her parents spending time with her children.
The pop star also reflected on her life and said that she “never got to be me” as people took advantage of her. Spears called herself an “angel” and said she misses the excitement of life.
She questioned how the government could have allowed her experiences to happen. She also said people look for heroes even though everyone is human. At the end of her message, she wrote, “We’re all stars in my eyes cuz I’m just mamma now.”
Spears has faced several personal challenges in recent months, including a DUI arrest in March and a rehab stay that ended in April, according to Page Six. She later accepted a “wet reckless” plea deal that included alcohol education classes and informal probation. A previous Daily Mail report also claimed that the brothers told Spears they would not accept “no” when urging her to get help.
