Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed fired back at Donald Trump after the president targeted him in a Truth Social post contrasting their families. El-Sayed used his reply to speak about his affection for his wife and took a swipe at the President and First Lady’s relationship.

Trump posted a split photo on Truth Social showing himself with Melania Trump beside a photo of El-Sayed and his wife, Sarah Jukaku, who wears a hijab. He captioned it “Two VERY DIFFERENT America’s [sic].”
El-Sayed, who won Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary this week, accepted the comparison during a CNN appearance on Sunday. “Yeah, he’s right,” he said. He then pointed out the distinction between the two marriages.
“One in which your overlords are two people who don’t like each other, but join in the interest of making billions of dollars off of you – or two people who genuinely love each other, enjoyed some pancakes together, want to come together to build the kind of America where they can raise a family and know that that family is going to have the good things,” El-Sayed stated.
Abdul El-Sayed pivoted to pocketbook issues after that. “Yes, you’ve got two different visions of America. Donald Trump’s vision is the one you’re living in right now. Can you afford your gas? Can you afford your groceries?”
The exchange follows an already escalated feud between Trump and El-Sayed, as the president called him names during a Thursday speech. Sky News asked El-Sayed about the expletive. He responded: “At least I don’t let mine go in the middle of the Oval Office.”
El-Sayed will now face former Republican congressman Mike Rogers in November’s general election. Democrats view this Michigan race as essential to flipping the Senate, as all sentiment towards Republicans is currently declining.
