Jill Zarin is mourning the loss of her mother, Gloria Kamen. The former “Real Housewives of New York” star shared the sad news on Instagram Tuesday, Aug. 11. Gloria died at age 91. Jill recalled her mother as a significant part of her life and family.

In the Instagram post, Jill described Gloria as “my best friend, my mentor, and the most important person in my life.” She stated Gloria was “the heart of our family” for 68 years. Jill also described her mother as a relentless truth teller, and she was “everybody’s therapist” and “everybody’s voice of reason. Jill included photos from various stages of Gloria’s life in her tribute.
In the 2010 book “Secrets of a Jewish Mother,” Jill and Gloria also shared their life stories. Jill co-wrote the book with her sister Lisa and their mother. Jill also called Gloria “the real OG housewife who raised incredible women and touched the lives of millions with her counsel and kindness.” She said her mother’s wisdom, strength and love will continue through her family.
Gloria’s grandchildren include Allyson, Jonathan, Joanna and Yotam. She also had a great-grandchild named Abby, whom Jill said Gloria “absolutely treasured.” Jill said her mother leaves behind “a legacy that can’t be measured.” She added that Gloria will be “deeply missed and never ever forgotten.”
Jill starred on “The Real Housewives of New York” from 2008 to 2011. In her last message to her mother, Jill thanked her for giving her a beautiful family. She also thanked Gloria for choosing the father; she said she could not have asked for anyone better. Jill ended her tribute by saying her mother was “always right about everything, even if it took me a while to see it.”
