General Hospital Star’s Custody Battle Takes Another Turn as Ex-Wife Speaks Out

Steve Burton’s custody fight with ex-wife Sheree Burton has taken another turn. Sheree is pushing back against Steve’s claims that she keeps him from their daughter. She says she had nothing to do with trying to hurt their relationship with 12-year-old daughter Brooklyn. She also wants to relocate from California to Tennessee.

Steve Burton’s ex-wife denies trying to alienate him from their daughter

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Sheree wants the court to approve her move to Tennessee. She has always been the primary caregiver for Brooklyn, she said. When Steve wasn’t working in Los Angeles, he was often traveling and spending the majority of his time in New York or Tennessee, Sheree said. She added that she let Brooklyn visit Steve a lot.

When the custody schedule went into effect in February 2026, Sheree said Steve decided to relocate from California to Tennessee. She said Steve later told her the visitation schedule did not work for him and returned to court. Sheree said Steve then claimed he planned to move back to California because of the custody issues. But she now wants to relocate to Tennessee instead.

Sheree asked the court to let her move to Tennessee with Brooklyn. She claimed that if Brooklyn had to stay in California, Steve’s new wife would watch her instead of her biological mother. Sheree said she and Steve have poor communication. She also called his messages “full of accusations that do not match the reality of the situation” and denied his parental alienation claims.

Steve and Sheree were married for 23 years before they got into a divorce battle. In 2022, Steve filed for divorce when he and his wife separated. The former couple has three children together, including Brooklyn, and their divorce ruling later gave them joint legal and physical custody of their two minor children. Steve previously alleged that Sheree interfered with his parenting time as mandated by court order, and Sheree has denied this.
