Ramsey discussed their relationship with Pascal during a recent interview on The Jonathan Ross Show. They explained that they remained “loosely in touch” with their former co-star. However, Ramsey said their connection now felt like “an entirely separate thing.”
The actor appeared tired of repeated questions about their friendship with Pascal. “People get invested in the characters,” they explained. Ramsey then called the attention “sort of weird to talk about.” They eventually asked to move on to another topic.
According to The Blast, their comments contrasted with how warmly they previously discussed Pascal. Ramsey once described their connection as “deep-rooted.” Pascal also called Ramsey his “blessing” during an earlier discussion.
Ramsey previously explained how their conversations with Pascal usually happened. Their texts often involved asking where the other person was. They would sometimes discover that they had narrowly missed each other. Their busy schedules appeared to make regular contact difficult.
Pascal had a smaller role during The Last of Us Season 2. His character, Joel, died during the second season. Ramsey previously admitted that having less time with Pascal was difficult.
“I love him very deeply and will forever,” Ramsey said previously. They also said they had definitely missed him. Ramsey hoped they could eventually work together again. However, they imagined a difficult dynamic outside Ellie and Joel.
Ramsey also discussed their sexuality during the recent interview. They said they were not “100% straight.” The actor has previously spoken openly about identifying as non-binary. Ramsey uses they/them pronouns.
They also said they were not particularly concerned about being misgendered. Ramsey stressed that respect mattered more than perfection. They explained that people should listen when someone corrects their pronouns. Their comments reflected their relaxed approach to identity and gender.
Ramsey also discussed feeling embarrassed about buying a home at 22. They said their early career helped make that possible. The actor began working professionally when they were 11.
