Don Toliver’s sold-out show at Houston’s Toyota Center came to an unexpected end on August 11. The 32-year-old rapper was performing as part of his blockbuster Octane Tour when police reportedly stopped a man from bringing a gun into the venue.

A Houston Police Department spokesperson told TMZ that a 30-year-old man allegedly tried to bring a handgun into the arena. Security flagged him after the weapon triggered a metal detector. An officer responded and took the man into custody. He was taken to the Harris County Jail.
The concert ended about 10 minutes early. By that time, Toliver had already completed most of his performance. According to The Houston Chronicle, the rapper left the stage around 10:40 p.m. after performing KRYPTONITE and Too Many Nights. At first, it looked like a normal break. Moments later, the house lights came on, and an announcer told fans to leave. The announcer said, “Sorry for the inconvenience. The show is over.”
Fans were expecting the Houston-born rapper to finish his set, which included three more songs. Some initially thought the show was experiencing technical problems. One of them wrote, “Bro, this Don Toliver concert just ended so crazy… like they just shut the lights on in the middle of the song and told everyone to go???”
Another posted a screenshot from the Citizen app, writing, “Whoever this was, f**k you! Ended the Don Toliver show with a few songs left in the setlist. No sweet home.” The screenshot appeared to show police responding to an incident at the venue and read, “Man detained for bringing a gun to Toyota Center.”
Toliver is currently on his Octane Tour, which added 19 more dates after its first 31 stops sold out. The North American leg ends September 6, followed by a European run that concludes in London on November 23.
