Hillary Clinton questioned what future presidents will do with Trump’s massive ballroom build
Hillary Clinton appeared on Pivot with Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway on August 7. She discussed Trump’s controversial White House ballroom construction. While criticizing the project, she also revealed rare details about the White House’s security infrastructure. She said, “I’m not against the idea of a ballroom. I’m against this ballroom.” It’s a “carbuncle on the side,” and she said that the design is “so unfortunate looking.”
She said, “I mean the idea of tearing it down is, and we don’t know what’s really going on underneath it. You know, under the several floors down under the White House there are, you know, secret security rooms, I assume infrastructure. There are, you know, safe rooms.”
Clinton recalled a 9/11 photograph of Condoleezza Rice and Dick Cheney as a reference to the underground rooms. She said, “If you remember after 9/11, there’s a picture of Candy Rice and Dick Cheney in a room, a very kind of crowded room that is under the White House. So, I don’t know what they’re doing down there.”
She called the ballroom construction a “terrible idea.”
Clinton also questioned what the next administration would do with the ballroom after Trump leaves the White House. She added that it is not the only change future presidents may have to deal with.
“There’s gonna be a long list,” she said. She also criticized Trump’s fondness for gold during the podcast.
Trump proposed building a 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House. However, a federal court ordered construction to halt, and the Trump administration is expected to challenge the ruling.
