WABC-TV anchor Liz Cho has filed for a protective order amid her and former CBS News anchor Josh Elliott’s divorce proceedings. The 55-year-old New York City news anchor filed the request to avoid a deposition scheduled by Josh’s legal team.

According to the paperwork reported by Page Six, Cho filed the motion on July 17, asking the court to block the deposition that was scheduled for July 23.
Cho’s legal team claimed that Josh’s lawyers scheduled the deposition without checking their availability. They said none of Cho’s attorneys could attend on that date because of previously scheduled conflicts. Her lawyers reportedly offered to work with Josh’s team to find another date. However, the paperwork also claimed that Josh’s legal team was “away on vacation.”
It is unclear whether the deposition eventually took place or was rescheduled.
Cho also objected to a request for documents related to her past romantic and sexual relationships. The request included written correspondence, emails, cards, and text messages exchanged with anyone she had a romantic or sexual relationship with between July 11, 2015, and June 23, 2025.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Cho later agreed to provide the documents during a July 24 court hearing. She was also ordered to hand over communications she had with journalists about the divorce. In addition, Cho reportedly has to explain why she transferred $500,000 from the couple’s joint bank account to her teenage daughter’s account in October last year. Both Cho and Josh have children from previous relationships.
Josh filed for divorce from Cho in June last year after nearly 10 years of marriage. The divorce has since turned into a contentious legal battle.
Before joining CBS News, Josh worked as an anchor on ABC’s Good Morning America and as a contributor for NBC News. He was reportedly fired from CBS in 2017.
