Kate Middleton’s ‘Older Sister’ Inside the Royal Family Isn’t Who You’d Expect — Expert

Kate Middleton reportedly has a trusted ally in Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, who has become something of an older sister figure to the Princess of Wales. According to an insider, the two royals have developed a close and wholesome bond, with Sophie offering Middleton unconditional support and sisterly reassurance.

Kate Middleton’s most trusted Royal is Duchess Sophie, expert claims

According to Royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Kate Middleton’s most trusted royal confidante is Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh. As reported by Hola!, the two women developed a close friendship after Middleton joined the royal family.

It was reportedly the Princess of Wales’ grandmother-in-law, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who asked Sophie to look after Middleton and help her navigate life within the royal family.

For those unversed, Sophie, like Middleton, came from a non-royal family, which reportedly helped her empathise with the Princess of Wales as she adjusted to royal life. Over the years, their relationship is said to have grown stronger, blossoming into a warm friendship.

The two royals reportedly share a similar outlook on life and many of the same values, further strengthening their close bond. Seward revealed to HELLO (Hola’s sister publication) that Kate and Sophie “have a sisterly bond” while adding, “Sophie is like the older sister Kate never had.”

Seward explained: “They are both protective of their children. Sophie has had a young family, so she knows what it’s like trying to protect them while being in the royal world.” She also described the two royals as “incredibly kind girls.”

Furthermore, the royal biographer explained that their middle-class backgrounds and long romances with their husbands helped them connect better. Seward shared: “Sophie has been there in the background. They both had really long romances with their husbands-to-be. By the time they got married, they had more knowledge than the royal brides before them about what they were getting into.”
