Paris Jackson Says Michael Jackson’s Strangest Rule Finally Made Sense

Michael Jackson may have been one of the most famous personalities on the planet, but the King of Pop did his absolute best to provide a normal life for his children, according to his daughter, Paris Jackson. In a recent interview, the “Wilted” singer opened up about the peculiar rules her father had for his kids during their childhood, which included wearing masks during public outings.

Michael Jackson made his children wear masks so they could preserve some anonymity

During her recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Paris Jackson revealed that her father instructed her and her brothers to wear masks in public. “I mean, it just made sense because it was like, ‘Oh yeah, if you do this now, then you can go to Chuck E. Cheese and be normal this weekend ’cause no one will know who you are,” the musician noted. “Like that made sense to me.”

Michael Jackson’s daughter added that she recognized her father’s popularity but “just didn’t know how famous” he was. “There was definitely part of me that, like, when I looked out my hotel window, and it was one of the times where like the alias didn’t work and there’s just like a sea of people with signs and stuff. I’m not so naive to think, yeah, everyone experiences this, you know?” Paris remarked. “I just didn’t understand the lengths.”

Another rule of thumb in the Jackson household was that the children had to complete their chores to earn a fun weekend. “If you’re good, and you do your chores, and you do your homework, and you do the things that you’re supposed to do, then on the weekends you can go see some animals, and you can go ride some rides, and you can go to the movies,” Paris noted.

“It was made very, very clear that all of the attractions [at Neverland] were not for us,” she added. “That it did not belong to us. That was for, you know, underprivileged children and children that were terminally ill that couldn’t go to like Disneyland.”

Paris is currently occupied with her first-ever headlining tour, titled the Zombies Tour, which commenced in July and will end in September.
