Vogue Williams took aim at Anthony Kiedis over his former relationship with Australian model Helena Vestergaard. The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman was 50, and Vestergaard was 19 when they began dating in 2013. Their relationship lasted approximately two years.
Vogue Williams says she’s ‘disappointed’ in Anthony Kiedis over his 19-year-old ex
During an episode of My Therapist Ghosted Me, Williams spoke about Kiedis alongside comedian Joanne McNally. The 40-year-old presenter said she found Kiedis “really disappointing,” despite noting that he had not broken the law, adding that she was a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
While discussing the matter, Williams reacted with disbelief and questioned Kiedis’ actions. Her co-host, McNally, went on to add, “I’ve seen this. I just accept now that most men are drawn to significantly younger women. That’s all I’m gonna say. It is what it is. I don’t think there’s any getting away from it. We judge it, but it’s not going away; it’s not going to change.” However, she added, “I would have to say it’s not all men.”
McNally then discussed why some younger women might pursue relationships with older men. She said, “Of course, people like him [Kiedis] and rockstars like him can get away with it because no 19-year-old girl wants to be going out with some old lad who is driving a Toyota Corolla around town.” She suggested that dating a millionaire rock star could appeal to younger women because of the fame, wealth and glamorous lifestyle associated with it.
Kiedis, now 63, was also previously in a relationship with Heather Christie, who was 22 years his junior. They welcomed their son, Everly Bear, in 2007, when Kiedis was 44 and Christie was 21. Kiedis is currently in a relationship with the 33-year-old podcaster Eileen Kelly.
Kelly addressed their age-gap relationship in an April Vogue essay titled My Boyfriend Is Double My Age. She wrote, “There is something to be said for a man who’s simply had more time to get his s*** together, and my much older boyfriend seems genuinely excited to be with me.”
