Prince William reportedly didn’t want everyone to know that Prince Harry was his younger brother at Eton College. William studied geography, biology, and history of art at the prestigious college from 1995 to 2000. Meanwhile, Harry attended the same college from 1998 to 2003. This meant that the brothers attended the same college for two years. However, a report suggests that William did not want Harry to behave in a way that would make people realize they were brothers or that they knew each other.
Prince William reportedly wanted Prince Harry to act like they didn’t know each other at Eton
A report by Hello! Magazine suggests that Prince William reportedly made a request to Prince Harry during the time they shared at Eton College. Harry mentioned in his memoir, Spare, that William didn’t want them to be seen as a “package deal.” William wanted Harry to keep his distance from him at the college and not let anyone know that they were brothers.
However, as much as Harry tried to follow the rule, he accidentally broke it once after doing what he described as “supremely stupid.”
The Duke of Sussex wrote in his book that he and his friends thought his hairstyle was a “complete disaster,” so he decided to shave it off. However, once his hair was gone, he realized that he had made a “legendary mistake.” Harry was so overwhelmed and didn’t know what to do that all he wanted was to turn back time.
He wrote, “I wanted to wake from this nightmare. Not knowing where else to turn, I violated the sacred rule, the one shining commandment never to be broken, and ran upstairs to Willy’s room.”
Recalling the incident, Harry wrote that there was nothing William could do to fix the situation. However, he hoped his brother would at least tell him that everything would be all right. Instead, William laughed like everyone else as he stood there, “fingering the nubs” on Harry’s bare scalp. The incident describes the lengths the brothers went to hide their relationship from others.
