Tony Romo’s recent DUI arrest has sparked fresh attention on his past relationship with Jessica Simpson. The former couple split more than a decade ago. However, a new report claims Simpson hopes the incident becomes a turning point in her ex-boyfriend’s life.
Jessica Simpson is glad Tony Romo may finally be getting help after his DUI arrest
According to RadarOnline, Jessica Simpson believes Tony Romo’s recent DUI arrest could ultimately lead to something positive if it encourages him to seek help. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current sports broadcaster was recently arrested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Authorities charged him with operating a vehicle under the influence.
Romo and Simpson dated for about two years before ending their relationship in July 2009. Sources claimed the breakup left Simpson devastated. The report alleged Romo ended the relationship after suspecting she had been unfaithful with another former partner, musician John Mayer.
The outlet also reported that both Romo and Simpson were known for partying during their relationship. Following their split, Simpson struggled with alcohol before eventually embracing sobriety in 2017.
“Jessica ultimately wishes Tony no harm, and she’s thrilled that this moment … could lead him to finally find the same path that has worked so well for her,” a source said.
The insider also claimed Romo introduced Simpson to a lifestyle where alcohol played a major role and alleged that her drinking continued after their relationship ended. Those claims have not been independently verified.
Simpson has spoken publicly in recent years about her sobriety journey and the positive impact it has had on her life. However, she has not publicly commented on Romo’s recent arrest.
Reports also suggested Simpson views the incident as an opportunity for her former boyfriend to reassess his life rather than as a reason for resentment. Neither Romo nor his representatives have publicly responded to the report about Simpson’s alleged reaction.
