The reality star’s sudden death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and former The Challenge castmates. Tina Barta, who competed with Tyler multiple times over the past two decades, wrote via an Instagram video, “It’s hard to find the right words when someone who was part of such a meaningful chapter of your life is suddenly gone.”
She reflected on the unique bond she shared with Duckworth, saying their experiences together had grown into a friendship, a shared history, and a sense of family. She also expressed gratitude for being surprised by his visit to Challenge Mania, where she got the chance to hug and kiss him one last time.
According to People, Grand Forks police arrived at Duckworth’s residence around 11:45 a.m. on August 11 after a neighbor reported water leaking through the ceiling from his apartment. Tyler was discovered dead in his bathroom after police responded to his apartment. Authorities said the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. However, there appeared to be no signs of foul play or a suspicious death.
The official cause of Duckworth’s death has yet to be determined and is awaiting autopsy results. Authorities will also conduct a toxicology test, with results expected in 10 to 12 weeks. Tyler, who made his reality TV debut on MTV’s The Real World: Key West in 2006, was last seen publicly at a Challenge Mania event in Minneapolis on July 31. Following the event, he posted a series of photos on Instagram with fellow The Challenge stars Rachel Robinson, Brad Fiorenza, Tina Barta, and Mark Long.
