Johnny Depp’s ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Comeback Takes Major New Turn

Johnny Depp became best known for his iconic portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow after delivering a memorable performance in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Fans of the character had been excited by recent reports of the actor’s possible comeback, and now those discussions have taken a major turn.

Johnny Depp is in talks to return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film

According to DailyMail’s coverage, the 63-year-old actor could return in his iconic role for a new installment of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently teased the possibility of Depp’s comeback during the studio’s D23 fan event.

Jerry said, “We’re talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done.”

The sixth movie appears to center around a new character played by Margot Robbie, but Jerry Bruckheimer’s latest comments have given fans hope that Johnny Depp could still return as Captain Jack Sparrow. However, the actor’s return has not been officially finalized yet.

The Kentucky-born actor first took on the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the first film of the franchise, The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was the first time audiences saw Johnny Depp portray the eccentric and unconventional pirate. His performance in the iconic role also earned him an Oscar nomination.

After the success of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Johnny Depp went on to appear in four more films in the franchise before exiting after the fifth installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The fifth movie hit theaters in 2017, but recent reports suggest that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 could finally be moving forward. However, Disney has not announced an official release date yet.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been led by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, while the films have featured several directors over the years, including Gore Verbinski, Rob Marshall, Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. The writing team has also included Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Jay Wolpert and Jeff Nathanson.
