Sid Wilson has made a clear change to his Instagram profile after leaving Slipknot. The DJ and keyboardist altered one line in their bio to reflect the years spent with the band. Slipknot confirmed his departure Friday after earlier reports about his firing. Wilson has not issued a statement regarding the split.
Sid Wilson marks his Slipknot exit with a stark ‘1997-2026’ Instagram bio change
Wilson changed his Instagram bio from “@slipknot gang since 1997” to “@slipknot 1997-2026.” The change came after Slipknot confirmed that it would no longer work with him. “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the band said. Slipknot added, “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Wilson joined Slipknot before the band released its self-titled debut album in 1999. He stayed with them for almost 30 years before leaving. TMZ previously reported that the firing had been building for some time. Wilson’s bandmates ‘had enough’ of his actions toward them, the outlet said.
There has been confusion over the way the band has managed Wilson’s departure too. Slipknot originally posted a statement on Instagram that he was leaving the band, but subsequently removed it. Guitarist Jim Root had also shared a cryptic message after reports of Wilson’s firing emerged. “Don’t believe everything you read,” Root wrote, adding, “Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
Wilson’s departure occurred just a few months after he parted ways with Kelly Osbourne. The former couple were together for 4 years and have a 3-year-old son named Sidney. Days after the firing, Osbourne shared and later deleted angry messages about Wilson. “I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise,” she wrote before asking him to leave her alone and requesting her dogs, possessions and possible child support.
