Forget celebrities! This time, The Traitors is bringing in ordinary people, a whole new group of players who seem more than ready to lie, betray and throw each other under the bus.
The Traitors: New Blood is heading to NBC this fall with an all-civilian cast, and the trailer makes one thing very clear: these players have watched the game before, and they are coming prepared. Alan Cumming will once again take on hosting duties.
The Traitors: New Blood brings an all-civilian cast to NBC, with Alan Cumming returning to host the show
If you watched the first season of the U.S. version, you probably remember how badly things went for the everyday players. Survivor star Cirie Fields practically ran circles around them, delivering a master class in how to play a Traitor while the other contestants struggled to figure out what was happening.
Now, the civilians are getting another shot.
And this time, they don’t seem interested in playing nice.
“The name of the show is called Traitors,” one contestant says in the trailer. “I’m gonna deceive somebody.”
Another player takes things even further, confidently declaring, “I put the gas in ‘gaslight.’”
Well, at least she’s honest about being dishonest.
The Traitors: New Blood will feature an entirely civilian cast, bringing the U.S. version closer to the format already used in several other countries, where, rather than reality TV stars and celebrities, regular people make up the cast.
Alan Cumming is also back in his role as host, so fans won’t have to say goodbye to the dramatic castle, suspicious looks and plenty of questionable alliances.
The new season will premiere on NBC on Sep. 17 with a two-episode debut. Two more episodes will follow the next Thursday before the show settles into a weekly schedule.
And if waiting a week for the next betrayal sounds unbearable, there’s some good news. Every episode will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
The first U.S. season proved that being a reality TV veteran can give someone a serious advantage. Now, New Blood is asking a different question: What happens when the regular players know exactly what kind of game they’re walking into?
Judging by the trailer, they aren’t planning to make it easy for anyone.
